McKinley, located between Gilbert and Biwabik, is primarily a small residential community offering limited services, but nearby McKinley Lake offers recreational opportunities.

Parking just steps away from the Mesabi Trail entry point kiosk. NOTE – there is a gap with no paved trail between McKinley & Biwabik. Heading west – there is paved tail connecting to Gilbert. Heading east – detour to the shoulder of Hey 135 to get to Biwabik. Construction completion expected by the end of 2023. There is paved trail again starting east of Biwabik.
