Located alongside beautiful Olcott Park, the museum complex consists of the former park superintendent's residence, a Finnish-style log house, and 1930s tourist cabin. Permanent exhibits depict logging & lumbering industries, Virginia's fires of 1893 & 1900, and Olcott Park's Master Gardener Gunnar Peterson. The VAHS archives are available for research purposes.

The Museum tells the story of Hibbing, "The Town That Moved", through photographs & exhibits, including scale models of the city in 1893 & 1913. Defining the transition from underground to open pit mining, the museum features a "Decades" display of artifacts beginning with the 1870s, as well as logging & mining artifacts. Open Tues through Fri, 10 am to 2 pm or open anytime by appointment.
