What is a Wheel Pass?
A Wheel Pass is required to use the Mesabi Trail on wheels for adults ages 18+. (bicycles, eBikes, inline skates, skateboards). Hikers, joggers, walkers, and people using mobility devices such as wheelchairs are not required to purchase a pass to use the Mesabi Trail.
What does a Wheel Pass Cost?
- $10 – *Three-day pass (good for any three days you choose, do not have to be consecutive)
- $20 – Annual pass (good for the current calendar year)
* Day passes are not available. A three-day pass is required for one- or two-day use.
Where do I buy a Wheel Pass?
There are three different ways to purchase a Mesabi Trail Wheel Pass:
- Buy a Wheel Pass online (available year-round).
- Buy a Wheel pass from one of our wheel pass vendors along the Mesabi Trail (available April to October).
- Buy a 3-day Wheel Pass from a self-pay boxes at Mesabi Trail access point kiosks in these communities– Grand Rapids, Bovey, Calumet, Keewatin, Hibbing, Buhl, Mountain Iron, Virginia, Eveleth, Giants Ridge.
