Minnesota Museum of Mining

Explore 13 acres of kid-friendly, hands-on exhibits: iron ore train, huge mine trucks, drill rigs, steam shovels, fire trucks and buses dating to early 1900s. New exhibit on Iron Range Life 1920s to 1960s, steam train diorama, WPA-era castle and amphitheater, ore and rock samples, and underground mine replica. Open daily.

Hull Rust Mahoning Mine View

View the world's largest open pit iron ore mine. Called the "Grand Canyon of the North" the mine is 6 miles long, 1.5 miles wide, and 535 feet deep. Viewing area open seasonally 7 days a week, 9am - 5pm; less than a mile from entrance to Mesabi Trail.
